Guidelines for creating a healthy mycoculture at Mycologos

ONLINE COURSES POLICIES

To obtain a Certificate of Certification associated with a given course, students must complete all stated requirements for that course. These requirements vary by course and are detailed on the first day of a course. Course fees do not change for students who choose to not pursue certification. In joining a course, students agree to the terms and requirements relating to our certification process.

Learn more about our Certificates of Completion here.

Many of our online courses come with a 30-day, no-questions-asked, 100% guarantee. The 30-day period starts when the first video, audio and/or written instructional, resource list, or other preparatory information is provided by Mycologos. Refunds will not be issued after this 30-day period has ended.

All of our online courses are streamed from an online server and cannot be downloaded for offline viewing. It is each user's responsibility to ensure that they have sufficient means to access a course's content. Mycologos is not liable for any refund amount due to technical problems on your computer, including but not limited to: printer malfunction, inability to install Adobe Acrobat Reader, or problems due to internet connectivity.

Students who do not qualify for certification for any reason, or who violate our Terms or Policies, lose privileges in the Mycologos Community Forum, or are dismissed from enrollment for any reason will not be issued a refund.

Students enrolled in our online courses may receive access to a portion of the Mycologos Community Forum (MCF) associated with that course (if applicable). Forum members are encouraged to engage in this platform to share research, collaborate on designs, provide peer support and feedback, and to build professional and private relationships.

Access to the MCF will be provided for the life of the Forum unless a Forum member does one or more of the following:

• Discriminates against any person or group of people on the basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, age, religion, marital status, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. This applies to Mycologos staff and students, as well as any person or group outside of Mycologos.

• Shares, distributes, recreates, plagiarizes, or otherwise reproduces in any form any educational resource provided by Mycologos, whether outside of the Mycologos platform or between Forum sections.

• Promotes any business, event, good, or service apart from those businesses, events, goods, and services discussed or promoted by Mycologos directly.

• Creates or joins an unofficial discussion platform outside of the Mycologos website that is aimed at discussing the work of Mycologos (for example a Facebook group, Reddit subreddit, or similar social media or online discussion platform) and/or that directly and/or intentionally interferes with, undermines, or threatens the success of Mycologos and its Website, Products and Services, or other offerings in any form.

Forum members violating any of the above or our Terms and Conditions will lose access to the Mycologos Community Forum for one month. If a second violation is made thereafter, Forum privileges will be permanently revoked.

Mycologos reserves the right to dismiss any student, including terminating access to all or any portion of the Website, for violating any of the above, our Terms and Conditions, or any other Policies set forth by Mycologos. Reasons for dismissal include, but are not limited to, posting comments that are deemed discriminatory, hateful, or abusive, or activities that are or seem to be in violation of any state, federal, or international law. Conduct which interferes with the success of Mycologos, its educational endeavors, or which hurts or threatens the welfare of Mycologos students or staff may also be cause for dismissal.

No refund of any fees paid by a student will be issued in the event of dismissal.

HANDS-ON TRAINING POLICIES

Most of our hands-on trainings and in-person events require a deposit to secure your place. When we receive your deposit we will place a temporary hold on one seat in the course in your name. Whether this deposit is refundable or not will vary by training. Refer to the event's description for details on deposit refund options.

Some of our trainings and events also require an application, interview, or other form of screening prior to admittance. Mycologos will reply to these applications within 21 days of their receipt.

Accepted applicants will thereafter need to complete their registration by paying the remaining tuition balance in full at least 30 days prior to the start of the event or course. Late payments will incur a fee of 5% of the total course cost each day thereafter. If a balance is not settled 21 days prior to the start of the event, the registration will be considered forfeited, the space in the course or event will be opened, and the deposit will not be refunded. In the event that an application is not accepted, any deposit made will be refunded in full.

Please contact us for instructions on how to pay for an event or training by mail.

Deposits for some of our hands-on trainings and in-person events are non-refundable. If you need to cancel your registration for one of these events, we may offer to switch your registration to a different session or another course. Such transfers are decided at the discretion of Mycologos on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.

For trainings and events with refundable deposits, students will receive a full refund of their deposit if they cancel their registration at least 30 days prior to the start of the event or course. For cancellations made 21–30 days prior to the start date, registrants will be 50% refunded. Cancellations made less than 21 days prior to the start of the event will not be refunded.

In the unlikely event that we cancel a training or event, deposits and any other funds paid will be fully refunded to all registrants.

For some of our hands-on trainings and in-person events, we may offer a limited number of work-trade positions. These roles require payment of a portion of the course cost (in the form of a deposit) along with the ability to start early and stay late each day of the event, and potentially in the days leading up to and following the event. The requirements for work trade positions vary by training and event and are non-negotiable (though we are happy to accommodate a work-trader's physical and or knowledge-based limitations).

If a work trade position is available for the event, details will be noted in the event’s description. If no work trade position is mentioned, none are available.

Those interested in a work trade position in one of our trainings or events must also fill out an application when placing their deposit and submitting their registration application.

If you are not accepted as a work trader and you cannot pay the full rate for the course, we will refund your deposit at least 30 days prior to the start of the event.

In the spirit of mycelial exchange, we are always open to offers of services that directly support the growth of Mycologos in return for discounted registration in one of our trainings or events. If you are a skilled laborer in the areas of construction, solar power system design, metal fabrication, CAD or architectural design, materials science, or other niche fields that could offer value to the development of Mycologos’s various facets, reach out with your offer, relevant links, and CV. If we are in need of skills like yours we will get in touch!

Please note that while we love new mushroom strains, homemade medicines, fresh made goat cheese, massages, and wild harvested mushrooms, we are currently not accepting these or similar items or services as forms of barter.

To create a vibrant and supportive learning environment for all Mycologos students, event attendees are asked to maintain dialogue with their peers that fosters healthy, respectful, and positive engagement.

While we encourage productive dialogue, respectful disagreement, and mature debate on the variety of topics we cover, conversing in a manner that directly and/or intentionally limits the success of any Mycologos student’s learning process or that creates an uninviting experience in general will not be welcome during any of our in-person offerings. Students engaging in such activity may be asked to leave a training early.

All of our events and courses are strictly drug free. Students found or known to possess illegal drugs will be asked to the leave the event immediately. Alcohol consumption may be allowed, but only if it is done respectfully, at an appropriate time, and only by individuals over the legal age. Mycologos will not issue a refund to students asked to leave a course or event for violating this policy.

Service animals are welcome to join their caretakers at most of our in-person events. However, as some of the facilities, parks, or other locations visited during our courses and other events may not allow animals, some restrictions may apply.

Prospective students with service animals are asked to contact us in advance of a course’s start date to ensure the best experience for you and your service animal.

Animals not registered as a service animal are not allowed at any of our events. This is to minimize noise and distractions, as well as to ensure the safety of any service animals present.

By registering for and attending our courses and events, you grant Mycologos the right to use photographs, videos, or voice recordings of you or your likeness, with or without your name, for publicity and educational purposes. If you would like to opt-out of the photo policy or have any other questions, please contact us directly.

Audio or video recording of any of our hands-on trainings or in-person events by participants is not permitted. Photographs are allowed, but “excessive photography” (e.g. of every slide in a presentation) will not be allowed. Mycologos reserves the right to limit documentation of any training or event at any time.

For hands-on trainings or in-person events that offer a Certificate of Completion, full attendance is required to obtain the Certificate. Make-up assignments may be offered if a small portion of the course or event is missed by a student. If a significant portion of the course is missed by a student, Certification will not offered. Whether a student is eligible for make-up assignments will be determined by the instructor(s) of the given training or event on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications for Certification vary by training and event. Please see the description of the training you are interested in for full details on how to obtain Certification.

Students who do not qualify for Certification for any reason, or who are asked to leave a course for breaking any of the above Policies or our Terms will not be provided a refund.

Training or event fees do not change for students who choose to not pursue Certification.
