This specialty oil is necessary for getting sharp images at high magnification (most commonly when using a 100x objective on a compound microscope). Two types of oil are available – you’ll want the one with a refractive index closest to the index of the coverslip you’ll being using.
Type A is most commonly used and is the type we recommend if you’re using our coverslips.
